eBOUND Canada is offering a 7-10 week contract focused on supporting the production and distribution of accessible digital books by Canadian independent publishers.

Reporting to the Technology Manager, the Project Specialist will be responsible for providing support to the research and readiness phase of an accessibility project to convert a large ebook collection into formats that can be accessible to all Canadians.  The Project Specialist will work closely with the Technology Specialist to analyze the collection lists, identify the conversion complexity for each title, and support the process of securing quotes from conversion service providers. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the changing landscape of accessibility in Canadian publishing.

The Project Specialist will be expected to work 5 days per week ($20 per hour) with possible overtime, and will receive all necessary training and resources to successfully complete all assigned tasks, which will include:

  • Analyzing title lists based on accessibility criteria
  • Summarizing findings and providing recommendations
  • Organizing title lists according to the complexity of the conversion process
  • Creating a schedule for the delivery of accessible titles
  • Additional tasks to support the Technology or Marketing department

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and well-equipped to work under pressure and meet deadlines.  Valuable skills include an intermediate understanding of Excel and knowledge of digital book publishing, and an interest in accessibility will be beneficial.

We welcome all applicants. Please let us know if you need accommodation during the recruitment process.
