eBOUND is excited to announce that we are hiring a one-year contract position to help us launch and implement a new service that will help Canadian publishers create born accessible content!

Context
eBOUND is a services organization that is committed to supporting Canadian publishers as they move toward the creation of born accessible content. To support this goal, eBOUND is launching a new online site that consists of an up-to-date content repository and a community hub. The content library consists of searchable Canadian created content and the community hub will allow various publishing stakeholders to ask questions, share and exchange ideas. The Accessibility Training Manager will play a key role in launching this site/service!

Accessibility Training Manager Job Description
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with publishers to provide the content and training required for them to work towards building accessible ebooks, web site accessibility and accessible audiobooks. The librarian will have three core roles:

 To work directly with publishers to connect them with the information and content needed. To support this work, the Accessibility Training Manager will have access to an online content library that contains how-to and best practices guides that can be shared with publishers. Communication with publishers will take place virtually via a community chat line, email, or phone.
 Monitor and identify missing content. Work with eBOUND team members to ensure content is created to fill identified gaps.
 Management of a community hub where publishers will share new standards, showcase examples of their accessibility titles, and mentor other publishers. The Accessibility Training Manager will be responsible to identify areas where how-to and best practices guides are needed to meet publisher’s needs.

Job Requirements

Reporting to the CEO, the Accessibility Training Manager will have the following skills and abilities:

– Customer service disposition
– Editorial skills and attention to detail
– Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals
– Ability to work independently and within a community
– Strong understanding of accessibility features in building an accessible EPUB
– Trained as a Benetech Certifier is a plus (will train if needed)
– Technical knowledge of EPUBs from the designing stage to end user experience
– Experience in using InDesign, Sigil, Thorium, iBooks with Read Out Loud function, ePUB Checker
– Experience with accessibility tools such as ACE by Daisy, SMART

Salary commensurate with experience.
