The eBOUND Canada board of directors includes representatives from a cross-section of publishing companies and other publishing industry stakeholders.

Board directors determine policy as well as the organization’s strategic direction, make high-level decisions, and provide guidance to senior management.

Brendan Ouellette is the digital project manager at Annick Press, a publisher of books for toddlers to teens, where he oversees digital marketing and the production of ebooks, audiobooks, and metadata.

Karen McMullin is a seasoned publicist and event manager with over 25 years of experience in the Canadian publishing industry. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, McMullin got her start in the industry by working at Words Worth Books, escorting authors such as Edna Staebler and Alistair MacLeod. A graduate of the Centennial College publishing program, with additional certificates in event management from George Brown College, along with Strategic PR, and Digital Marketing Strategies from the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies, she has worked for respected publishers such as Owl Books (now Owlkids), Penguin Group (Canada), Dundurn Press, and now is the national publicist and export manager for Nimbus Publishing, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Karen McMullin is on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Children’s Book Centre, and was past Chair of the Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association’s Marketing Committee. She completed the Spring 2022 cohort of the TAP (Trade Acceleration Program) through the Toronto Board of Trade and World Trade Centre of Toronto and was part of a trade delegation attending the Bogota Book Fair (FILBO) at the end of April 2022. Most recently, she was a Canadian Fellow at TIFA 2023.

Douglas Hildebrand is Director and Publisher at University of Alberta Press. He previously held a variety of roles at University of Toronto Press, including Sales and Marketing Manager and Acquisitions Editor.

Jack Illingworth is Executive Director at the Association of Canadian Publishers (ACP), a national trade association representing more than 120 independent, Canadian-owned book publishers.

Rina Hadziev is the Executive Director of the British Columbia Library Association. She has over 20 years of experience in public library leadership with a focus on collections, technical services, and accessibility, including serving as the temporary Executive Director of CELA, the Centre for Equitable Library Access in 2019/20.

Kieran Leblanc

Kieran is the executive director of the Book Publishers Association of Alberta, an industry association that supports the work of 30 Alberta book publishers, including advocacy, professional development, collective marketing, industry development and an awards program. Projects have included work in accessible audiobook production, accessible book publishing, ebook collections with Alberta libraries, and Alberta Books for Schools (including accessible resources for teachers and students).

Kieran is a founding member of the Alberta Partners for Arts and Culture, and a board member of eBOUND Canada and the Canadian Copyright Institute. Her past board involvement includes the Book and Periodical Council, Cultural Connections Institute – The Learning Exchange, Shadow Theatre, the Forum for Young Albertans, Edmonton West Rotary Club, Think Equal, and the Professional Arts Coalition of Edmonton.
