Video: Pre-Content Conversion – Source Content Preparation

Whether you’ve worked with a conversion house in the past or planning on doing so soon, there are some best practices that you can follow to help make the process smoother. To shed light on this oft-overlooked subject we contacted Aptara’s Digital Solutions Architect Jean Kaplansky. The subject proved to be so vast that we decided to split it down the middle, featuring two presentations: one covering pre-content conversion and another on post-content conversion.

The video below covers that crucial first step of working with a conversion house: pre-content conversion. In the presentation, originally recorded in May 2012, Jean will tell you everything you need to know to properly prep your source files for conversion. Good, well-formatted source files go a long way to ensuring the converted e-books are free of errors, limiting the time and effort you’ll need to put into QA.

But wait, there’s more!

In addition to the video presentation, Jean was kind enough to prepare a supplementary document that covers the subjects in the video in more detail. It’s a really handy reference guide, so download it and keep it close the next time you work with a conversion house.
