eBOUND has partnered with the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) to bring accessible texts to Canadian readers.
CELA is a national non-profit organization, providing infrastructure, support and content that allows public libraries to deliver accessible library materials to Canadians with print disabilities in equal measure to that which is enjoyed by other members of their community.
Bookshare is the largest library in the world of accessible books for people with severe print disabilities (severe dyslexia, low-vision, blindness, or a mobility impairment). Bookshare is an initiative of Benetech, a technology non-profit based in Palo Alto, California, that provides technology solutions for social causes, including human rights and the environment in addition to literacy.
eBOUND clients can distribute ebook files to Bookshare through CoreSource, in order to have their files converted into DAISY format, and made available through CELA and Bookshare to readers with print disabilities in Canada, the US and internationally.
eBOUND is proud to support the efforts of CELA and Benetech to bring Canadian texts to readers with differing abilities, and encourages its publisher clients to participate in their efforts.
Please contact our Digital Services Coordinator for more information, and to sign on to distribute your books to Bookshare and CELA.
