eBOUND President and CEO Robert Hayashi was recently interviewed for the Ottawa Citizen about the rise in popularity of ebook lending in public libraries. An excerpt from the article is below.


OTTAWA — E-books are growing in popularity, but libraries such as Ottawa’s say they face challenges to meet demand and make it easier for people to access and download material.

The Ottawa Public Library began offering e-books in 2010, and their use has been “skyrocketing” since then, from 86,253 circulations that first year to 233,755 in 2011, said Jennifer Stirling, the library’s acting division manager for system-wide services and innovation.
